Instructions:
1) prep eggs at room temperature
Tip for Consistency, use eggs that are at room temperature. . If your eggs are refrigerated, take them out at least 30 minutes to an hour before you plan to cook them.
2) Fill a medium saucepan with enough water to fully submerge your eggs. take note that you'll need a medium boil to cook these eggs.
Once your water boils, reduce the heat slightly so that it's maintaining a medium, steady boil. You want enough agitation to ensure even cooking, but not so aggressive that the eggs are rattling violently against the bottom or sides of the pot, which can cause cracking. A medium boil is perfect for ensuring consistent temperature around the egg. You should see plenty of bubbles breaking the surface, but the water shouldn't be splashing out of the pot.
3) Gently Add the Eggs (i like dropping them in with a spoon)
4) Time them for 4-6 minutes depending on what type of yolk you'd like
This is where you customize your jamminess. The timing starts from the moment all eggs are in the boiling water.
- For Runny Yolk (4 Minutes)
- For Classic Jammy/Custardy Yolk (5 Minutes)
- For Firmer Custardy Yolk (6 Minutes)
5) Prep ice bath
While the eggs are cooking, fill a large bowl with cold water and plenty of ice. This ice bath is critical for immediately stopping the cooking process and ensuring your eggs don't overcook.
6) Store unpeeled for about a week
